Artist Shootout 2026

Cowgirl artists may submit up to three of their best pieces in this unique, winner-take-all online showcase. Show us you favorite pieces for a chance to win—pieces do not have to be for sale, and there is no limit on creation date. 

Submissions accepted May 1–July 31, 2026. Online gallery opens September 1, 2026, and the grand champion is announced November 16, 2026. Winner receives a prize package valued at over $1,800 that includes artist spotlights, trophy buckle and leather portfolio, and more.

The Details

  • Entries Open: May 1, 2026 
  • Deadline to Enter: July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central 
  • Top 15 Finalists Announced & Gallery Opens: September 1, 2026
  • Top 5 Announced: November 12, 2026
  • Grand Champion Announced: November 16, 2026

 

Entry Information

  • $25 per entry
  • Up to 3 entries per artist
  • Open to artists 18+
  • Online competition with optional live painting demos in Fort Worth for finalists

 

Eligible Artwork

  • Any 2-D painting and drawing media is accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor/gouache, graphite, colored pencil and pastel
  • All styles welcome, with a focus on Western subject matter such as horses, cattle, ranch life, wildlife and landscapes. 
  • No creation deadline
  • Original artwork only; no AI-generated artwork is permitted.
  • Finalists may be invited for live painting demonstrations in the Fort Worth Stockyards

The grand champion receives:

  • Full-page ad in Chrome magazine
  • Feature promotion across event platforms
  • Press & editorial features
  • Custom prizes, including buckle, leather portfolio and tote
